Britain on Film comparison

The changes that have occurred from 50 years ago and now have been very rapid.

Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents is a good example to show the behaviours of youth/students now in comparison to how it was shown in Britain on Film. Both genders' actions  are very different now. In this program, we'd see near to naked or even fully naked girls and boys absolutely intoxicated with alcohol and drugs on holidays with their friends. Whereas what we saw on Britain on Film

What digital technologies have you used in creating your AS and A2 productions?

During As and A2 i've used the internet/ Safari to research about subjects and upload my work.

With some of these digital technologies, i've used them mainly to edit and create a final piece for a magazine, image etc. I used majority of the Adobe applications even though i don't know how to use all of them well, i played around with what i knew and looked up youtube videos on how to do things on the apps then came to create a small product such as an introduction to my movie.
I've learnt different skill from different applications and they've helped me create final pieces to my coursework such as creating a magazine spread on inDesign.

Ancillary product

In preparation for my product, i will research into movie reviews and hoe to write them and how they're  laid out. With the photoshoot i have done, i will use the images to make a draft copy of a poster cover. in order to do that, i will look into how posters are laid out and what they contain

Collective Identity: teenagers - PRINT.

Question: How do the dominant representations of Teenagers reflect their collective identity?

- What we hear most about teens that make society summarise  their identity.

Newspapers such as The Mirror portrayed the riots as very damaging and brutal. In one artical there was an image with a flaming van and a youth in front of it. The van may not have been set alight by the but they still used the image where one was standing by the defaced van. The picture also clearly states 'a hooded youth walked past a burning vehical' but did the tabloid have to use that specific image?

One clip was of a business owner being interviewed on the family business that was demolished by the riots. The link I've shared below shows what the man said. He specifically mentioned 'gangs of youths'. The media publishing that in the first place shows that they agree with what he says. He only points out the youths but he doesn't actually know for sure if only youths participated in the riots therefore the tabloid could also be seen as biased and stereotypical for publishing such strong point.

As well as tabloids, broadsheets also publish articles about the youth. In this article, The Guardian admits that the media 'casts youth in a constant bad light' this means that the media doesn't really show the positive sides to youths unless it was special events like results day or getting involved with a charity run.

This concludes that the media portrays young people negatively majority of the time. Sometimes, the media almost finds reasons to blame things on youths such as 'rap music' whereas some people  may see music as an art or a freedom of speech. Referring back to The Mirror, the article questioned if rap music influenced the commence of the riots.

                                                                                                          

Representation of disability

Discuss how disabled people are represented through the media.

Disability is shown everywhere in the media, from TV to News Papers to the radio. Disability is mainly conveyed positively in the media. The Paralympics for example, shows how people with a disability can still compete and fight for their medals and titles. The Paralympics is a good example of positive portrayal of them. It also shows equality between the disabled and non disabled people.

In my opinion, i think Family Guy, a cartoon 'for grown ups', gives Joe, a handicapped man an authoritative role because he's a police officer. Because it's a comedy, they also almost mock him by showing him that he cant swim, sleep with his wife or keep control of his body like the time he fell off the train and his friends laughed. He still gets treated fairly and equally by his friends though. Family Guy conveys Joe as how any other disabled person should/would be treated (to an extent).

In this picture, we can see that even though Peter (left) is Joes friend, Joe's still taking his job seriously. We also realise that Joe is a police officer on a wheelchair. Thats not something we'd see everyday but i think it's a good portrayal of equality.

Disability has been spoken about in the media more than it would've been 20 years ago. I think now media shows that disabled people are getting treated equally. In 2010, Disability and Equality act was introduced to in-force equality with employment, education and many more.

Treatment - Short Story - unfinished.

I dont think this is exactly what i want to do but i thought of having maybe about a male that's well known as a thug in the streets but behind closed doors he gets physically abused by his wife. He self harms and lies and says that he got into a fight with other men. 

His wife and him have a strange relationship where at one minute it's loving and caring but if he makes one little mistake she starts to throw things at him then beat him.

With the editing i want to show flashbacks of her as a child being abused by her father. i want her to wear a necklace that symbolises that shes the same person when she grows up so the audience know.

i want the present scenes to be in a rich luxurious living room where theyre sitting on the sofa.
